We hear people ask all the time what makes our camps so different from other camps. What makes our campers such good infielders?
It’s something that Coach Stubbs calls the “look”. High level coaches and scouts can pick out a “Stubby Kid” after just a few ground balls. People who will determine a camper’s future in the game of baseball can see it right away. Is it the “Latin” style brace step that Stubby Kids use? Could it be the “Triangle Fielding” position that makes them stand out? How about the ability to “deflect” a baseball and not just simply catch it? Maybe it’s how good Stubby Kids are on pivots at second base? It might be the ability of our campers to execute balls to their back hand side and include plays like the rake, dip and drive, clamp step or the skip? Are these the reasons our Camp Alumni have played at colleges like Stanford, Texas, Fresno State, Washington, Washington State and the University of Portland? I bet it might have something to do with Justin Fuller, who started coming to our camps at age 10 and was just named the Top Defensive Infielder in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Our camps are different for all those reasons.
Other camps teach infield, but no other camps take the time to break down every aspect of defending. We break down footwork, throwing, deflecting, pivots and feeds. Want more reasons? Our camps are offered in the summer and the winter. If you have a kid who is serious about becoming an infielder, then this is the place for you. Our year around program builds skill. We can’t make you taller or stronger, we won’t make you much faster but we will provide you with a chance to learn and practice skills to make you a better infielder. We don’t promise to make you great, but we will make you better and give you an avenue to greatness.
